A Slave Girl's Journey Print

$20.00Price

A Slave Girl's Journey was composed of acrylic and pumice on 18x22 piece of wood. The story behind the piece is not quite as bright as it is depicted. The subject of the piece is the little girl in the white dress, floating with a red balloon. The red in her sash and the red balloon are symbolic in that she did not die a peaceful death.

Towards the bottom of the painting are slaves, who are enraged by and also mourning her death. Like my "No Longer Adrift" piece, I couldn't bring myself to put them in chaines, so their shackles are painted without chains.
